The confusing issues

Now in all honesty I actually put that there because I really didn't know what in the world else to put down, after all I'm not covering just one topic here but several, and I usually do in the end too.

However there is one topic here that has been getting banded about like crazy both online and off line that I actually refuse to talk about period, and that happens to be the one dealing with the guns. Now I already have my stance on the whole thing, but the problem is, no one will actually pay attention to the truth in the matter, and that's the subject dealing with the guns.

For those of you that have been seeing what I've been sharing and posting on Facebook, you'll notice that there's never anything on the topic of guns, everything else yes, but never guns. The problem is, everyone that happens to be into the guns thinks the same thing that they've been getting told for years by those that use guns like crazy, and that's why I can't actually write anything dealing with the topic right now. Believe me, I would if I could, but I can't right now.

So instead I'm going to be dealing with a few other topics that have been hitting hard, namely that of the ever continuing sequester cuts that the GOP actually not only voted for, but put into place themselves and have done only one slight change to just to make sure that they weren't affected at all, and not just them, but also their rich backers. That's the thing that I'm really not liking about this congress, and it's been ever since they were voted into office in the first place, they don't care about the average person and never have, they only care about the ones that are paying them to do what they're told in the first place. You see in order to get elected, they needed the money to put on their campaigns, and besides asking the average person in their own districts for money, they also started accepting money from sources that came from outside their district, and this actually has been one bit that has never been changed when it comes to elections. After all, if there's no way for an outside source to stop coming in, then they can be able to pay for those that they want to get into office, along with major favors owed as well.

For example, there was a measure on the ballet here in California (I forgot what it was dealing with though sorry about that), and while you had those that supported it, you had a major company from Arizona that was funding the opposition to it. Now under California state law, all parties that are contributing money towards anything in an election must make themselves known, however that law doesn't exist in Arizona, and that company was going by Arizona law. Right now that is actually being dealt with in court, but it's the one piece of corruption in this country that has never been changed once. After all, if you have a major company from a different state that has the money, come in, then they can do what ever they want and will always get away with it, like paying for those that they want to get elected into office with no problems. after all they're feeding the fears of the general public through television and radio ads to get that person elected. The problem is, those ads are often spreading lies, and unless the information is actually checked, then no one will ever know the truth is the ad is a complete lie. That is what almost happened during this last election when Romney was running for the office of the President, he actually presented lies on television and radio and through the internet as well. However there were those online and off line and that decided that we didn't need someone like Romney in office at all, and restoring the Republicans back to the former glory that they had when Bush was in office. Which for us would've meant very bad things that would've happened.

The one thing that a lot of people these days don't realize nor do they want to realize is that any Republicans that they believed in and elected into office, they stopped listening to anyone that didn't have money. They only started listening to those that actually had the money and just gave lip service to those that didn't have any money except for their vote. That's why on the day of the election, Bonehead actually said that he loved that there were more Republicans that had been elected into the house, which meant that their power base actually grew and that they could continue to try to get their power back from Obama. The only thing that they weren't counting on though was what came after the election and Obama won the reelection, after all they honestly thought that Romney had a chance at winning, but were stunned and shocked that Romney lost and Obama won the reelection. So after the election, Obama did the one thing that shocked not only the Republicans in Congress, but also shocked the nation. He stopped negotiating with the Republicans, he forced them to do things that they didn't want to do, he refused to sign anything unless the one thing that they wanted renewed actually expired and that was the Bush tax cuts for the rich. That right there a month after he was reelected expired at the start of the new year, and so the Republicans knew at that point that they weren't dealing with the same President as they had been before.

No this President was doing the one thing that they refused to do, this President was listening to the will of the people, the ones that voted him into office, he was listening to them, and it's the one thing that the Republicans still to this day refused to ever do.

Look right now all of the Republicans that were elected into office out there right now are trying to make sure that all of the lower and middle classes get the blame for everything. I know that this is not only NOT true, but it's actually a lie that's getting believed right now and needs to be stopped for all time. However the only way that everything that's currently going on right now can get stopped is if we happen to vote out those that went for it in the first place and want to actually destroy our country to make sure that only their rich backers have everything only.

Look I'm honestly not thinking of either 2014 or 2016 in all of this, I'm not even thinking of our current time right now, considering that everything currently is lost to us with the Republicans having the power that they want anyway. No I'm actually thinking of the future in all of this, the world where our children have all grown up and have kids of their own. That's the future that I'm thinking of when it comes to what's going on right now, and that's the future that the rich and the GOP don't want us to EVER think about. After all, as long as we don't happen to think about that at all, then they know that we'll never notice the larger problems that they continue to either ignore or fight against.

However there are those of us out there that do think like I do, not about the current time, but about the world that their kids will have, and they're not listening to what the Republicans are actually saying when it comes everything out there, not believing the lies that are being told. No instead, they're opening their eyes up to the truth of everything and making sure that everyone else that they happen to know will also know the truth as well.

I remember reading back after the last election that had taken place, that Bonehead (and since I can't spell his actual name, this is all I will EVER call him) was thrilled that more Republicans actually were elected into the house, which meant that they got to keep their power strangle hold on the House to try and make sure that nothing actually ever happened while Obama happens to be in office. Because after all, they want to make sure that only their rich benefactors get helped out only and no one else. Plus there was another kicker that I had read, and this actually came from someone that EVERYONE I know happens to not like, and that's Rush. He said that if Hillary actually ran for President in 2016, that the Republican party was finished. I don't remember how many people actually loved that idea, but there were quite a few. And that's why we actually need to think of not our current time, or 2014 or 2016, but the future that our kids and their kids will inherit, that's the world that we have to think about in all of this.

President Obama, what has he ever done to you?

Now I know that there are some people out there that happen to hate Obama for some reason, even to the point of blaming just about everything on him, which really doesn't make any kind of sense at all. They blame him for the current economic problems that we happen be going through right now even though all of this crap actually started and happened before Obama actually took office, back during the Bush Regime. After all it was the two unpaid wars, and the Bush Tax cuts tat screwed us all over when it comes to what's going on here. Now I understand that there are things that Obama said he was going to take care of during his first four years in office, but the kicker is, he actually needs a senate and house that will actually work with him. The problem right there is that the Senate actually did try to help him out, however it was the House that not only refused to help him out, they actually voted EVERYTHING that came their way down. Hell these guys actually voted the aid for Hurricane Sandy down, and made a shit load of excuses as to why they couldn't vote for it, even though it was literally only one bloody page that was the order for money to help out for the aid for those that were needing it. The Republicans really just don't want to do anything, and they're willing to do or say just about anything to make sure that our current President can't get anything done at all.

There is a Facebook page that is dedicated to trying to take down the President like crazy it's call Barack Obama is a Dead Fly, and the only thing that they do is try to take down our president. The kicker is, the site makes no sense, and actually a lot of these sites don't make any sense considering that they were trying to make sure that Obama didn't get a second term. Yeah here's the problem with that, HE WON, GET THE FUCK OVER IT!!!!!!!!!

Now the one thing that I'm constantly wondering is this, except for those that just follow others in how they happen to think, like those that happen to watch Fox News, and think that they're actually telling you the truth and being fair and balanced (which is a joke since they're not), and the TEA Party which as it turned out was actually founded by a rich white guy that didn't want to pay taxes any more and knew the smart thing by getting everyone (almost) behind him in wanting there to be no more taxes. Here's the kicker with his plan. A few people actually like the idea of paying no more taxes, but then how are things going to get taken care of in this country, after all, the rich sure as hell won't step up to take action, after all they want to keep their money, they don't want to have it taken away either by paying people or getting things repaired. So in the end, how are we going to be dealing with all of this, but then we end up going back to the start, some would actually say, get rid of Obama. Sure that can happen, and we all know that this is his last term in office, and you're not going to be able to impeach him since he's done nothing wrong (unlike Bush that did a whole crap load of things wrong and yet they refused to impeach him at all), and everything that he's done that he's actually gotten put through has all been deemed Constitutional (much to the dislike of the GOP controlled House that has tried to stop him at every chance. after all the GOP House isn't working for the American people, they're the lap dogs of their rich owners, the GOP jump at what they're rich owners tell them to do in the first place. And if that means hurting America, they'll do it to make sure that they get their money from their rich owners.

So why do you hate Barack Obama, why? Now I've actually asked this several times from several people, and none of them have been able to give me a solid answer that happens to be their own, they're either repeating what's been getting told to them by Fox News, the TEA Party, or one of the other hate groups that don't want Obama in office. Now when I worked for Linen Outlet over in Pleasant Hill, CA before the place moved down to San Jose (by the way, I wouldn't recommend signing up with them), and I often talked with a friend that worked next door at Big 5, and I knew right off that this guy was a major conspirisy nut when it came to the government. One of the big things that he kept telling me (which I later found out was a lie that the GOP kept telling everyone and so far it hasn't happened and won't happen either) is that they're planning on taking EVERYONE's guns. Like I said, hasn't happened, and it's not going to be happening yet either. The GOP are so wanting to get their power base back, that they're willing to do anything, including trying to start a second civil war in order to get that power back, they not only want to start that war, they know that once that war is started they have the power to strip everyone of their rights to do ANYTHING to get them out of power, including getting rid of any constitutional rights at all. This is the one thing that they know they have to do in order to get their main power base back. From what I understand, this is actually what the party was on the verge of doing before the election where Obama won the first time, and the main reason why the GOP didn't win that election or the next one at all, is because people are wising up to them and making sure that they can't do anything that would continue to screw things over for the country in the first place.

However not everyone is that willing to actually listen to the truth, after all they would think that it was a liberal effort to try and destroy our country. Here's the problem with that little problem, the liberals aren't trying to destroy the country, they actually want to make sure that the country not only moves forward, but they want to make sure that  everyone has equal rights, something that the GOP and the ultra right wing conservatives don't want. After all, not only do they want to control you, but they also want to control everything that you do and think, and they want to make sure that you worship the same God that they worship as well. Yeah there's a nasty little subject right there that they're more than willing to hit up on at any given time. The religious nuts in this country want people to think that this country was founded as a Christian country, it wasn't and never was, it was founded for freedom for all. However there are those out there that don't want you to have that freedom. Hell as I've been writing this (which would slightly explain the scattering of this whole thing), I've been keeping up with things online, and I watched a little video from Rachel Maddow dealing with something that's currently going on right now over in Michigan right now, the governor of that state has decided that certain cities can't actually decide for themselves when it comes to who they're voting for in the first place, so he puts in place an unelected appointed emergency manager in place instead, and cancel voting in those places completely. Mind you the Governor of that state is a Republican and has gone through and survived a recall to get his butt out of the office, so on his level there is nothing that the people believe that they can do, and mind you I don't know what that state's constitution says about how long the governor can stay in office, but I do know one thing, when his time comes up, I doubt that the people are going to be voting red any time soon. After all if the people elected a red governor and thought that he still had the best interest of the people in mind, they were lied to like crazy, and I honestly believe that this right here is the start of something that might end up trying to go to different states out there. Namely every red state that happens to be out there right now that happens to have a Republican in the Governor's seat right now, they're not going to want to get rid of their power base that they happen to have, they're going to want to keep it, and if that means getting rid of voting rights, then they'll do that in a heart beat.

So now I come back to the start of this whole subject, why in the world do you happen to hate President Barack Obama, there's actually a list that was published of what Obama has done since first getting elected into office, and mind you this information is something that the GOP DO NOT want to have getting out, after all if they can make the President look bad in the eyes of the people then maybe they can keep a Democrat out of the White House for good:

Updated: H/T  Newmericans

Here is the updated list of what I judge to be Obama's most significant accomplishments in the less than 2 years since he was elected as President of the United States: As you read through this list, I ask you to weigh the totality of these achievements listed below against those accomplishments of Obama's presidential predecessors, Democrats and Republicans, and then, after considering this, make your determination of whether you think he has done a good job.

1. Appointing two Supreme Court Justices: When people consider their presidential voting decision, most don't consider that amongst the most important and enduring presidential responsibilities is the president's ability to appoint supreme court justices. This is arguably a president's biggest opportunity to influence his country, because Supreme Court justices sit until they retire or pass away, so the impact of his decision generally will last many decades beyond his years as president.  Obama has been fortunate enough to have two Supreme Court Justices retire in his first few years in office and he has managed to secure both of his nominations through wise selection and political skill.  He has added two Democrats, replacing two moderate Democrats in the process.  If a Republican has won the presidency instead, we would now be looking at an unbalanced Supreme Court with six conservatives and only three liberal judges – a balance that would have been in place for many many decades.  In the appointment process, Obama also introduced needed diversity to the bench with two more women on the court, bringing the count to a record three women sitting, while also introducing the nation's first Hispanic to the Supreme Court with his choice of Sotomayor.

2. Passing Universal Healthcare: Obama accomplished what no prior Democrat could in expanding coverage to 32 million more Americans while simultaneously reducing the deficit by an estimated $1.3 trillion over the next 20 years. It delivers on every provision of the Patient Bill of Rights that Bill Clinton unsuccessfully tried to get passed, including making it illegal to deny coverage for people with pre-existing conditions and capping out of pocket expenses when people get sick (so people don't go in to bankruptcy after getting ill).  It helps shift our medical system's focus to preventative care by covering the cost of early warning tests so our doctors find diseases before they are too advanced - avoiding larger medical expenses down the road and requires the largest and richest American companies to provides insurance for all their employees.  It attempts to lower health care costs by forcing all Americans to have medical insurance and pay their fair share so the system is more efficient – similar to how all Americans need to have car insurance – while providing tax credits to help the poor and small businesses afford this coverage.  It increases competition by creating marketplace exchanges to make it easier for small businesses and those without insurance to shop and compare plans.  It funds co-ops who can offer competitive insurance plans and provide further competition for insurance companies.  It allows insurance companies to offer plans across state borders further increasing the supply of competitive plans.  It provides funding, infrastructure, and support to automate, digitize, and unify the country's outdated medical information system reducing system-wide costs, improving care, and increasing productivity.  Perhaps most importantly, it sets up an independent commission of doctors and medical experts to identify and root out medical system waste, fraud, and abuse and includes many pieces of reform that will reduce the most wasteful medical system practices.

3. Financial industry reform: The most sweeping financial industry reform legislation since the Great Depression, this legislation tries to correct those industry issues that helped create the current recession we are still digging outselves out of.  It provides a system to allow the government to break apart large financial institutions that threaten the economy, creates a council of federal regulators to coordinate the detection of risks to the financial system, subjects a wider range of financial companies to government oversight, creates a Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection to help protect citizens from unscrupulous practices, and reins in banks' ability to trade in risky financial instruments such as credit derivatives.

4. Preventing a 2nd Great Depression: While preventing a depression is not sexy and certainly is reactive, history may say that this is still one of his most important accomplishment to date.  The vast majority of economists and experts say that the nation had a high chance of slipping in to a Depression had this stimulus not passed along with the innovative actions of the Fed.  Obama has worked with Bernanke and the Fed, put a team of some of the best economic minds around him, helped save America's 3 major car manufacturers from going out of business, passed the largest economic Stimulus Bill in the nation's history, and executed other legislative changes to keep liquidity flowing in our economy, save jobs that would have otherwise been lost, and fund areas of our economy that are strategic and important for our long term economic competitiveness including health care, education, green energy, science, and infrastructure.

Of course, critics will say that the economy today is still sputtering, holds some risk of sliding back in to a recession, and that a real recovery will take many years.  These are all true statements and Obama has not moved us from a possible Depression to a fast growing economy – but this is a completely unrealistic, almost childish, expectation given the severity of the financial crisis, our current debt, and other economic realities that we have to deal with.  Could he have done more or done it differently?  Certainly.  I would have loved to see Obama do more, faster to invest in small businesses, help them get loans, and help them become more competitive with the large corporations that increasingly dominate our economy.  But today we are not in a horrible depression and things are stable and this alone is a tremendous accomplishment.

5. Bringing the war in Iraq to an end: Obama has reduced troops from a peak of 170,000 down to 50,000, with the remaining troops focused on training and recruiting Iraqi forces, rather than participating in combat.  With this news, Obama delivered on a campaign promise he made while bringing to an end a misguided, expensive, and costly war which served no clear purpose.  He also ensured that, in the process of wrapping up efforts in the region, he did so responsibly.  Iraq is not in utter chaos as it once was at the peak of the insurgency and it stands a chance of having a reasonable future and being a reasonably stable Democratic state in the Middle East.

6. Passed legislation to curb greenhouse gases and improve the environment:Obama implemented new regulations on power plants, factories, and oil refineries to limit greenhouse gas emissions and curb global warming, required energy producing plants to produce 15% of their energy from renewable sources, allowed states to enact federal fuel efficiency standards above federal standards, increased, for the first time in more than a decade, the fuel economy standards for Model Year 2011 for cars and trucks, funded investment in clean energy technologies through a combination of spending and tax breaks, signed an omnibus public lands bill, which allows for 2 million more acres to be declared wilderness, and issued a Presidential Memorandum to the Department of Energy to implement more aggressive efficiency standards for common household appliances, like dishwashers and refrigerators, which, over the next three decades, will save twice the amount of energy produced by all the coal-fired power plants in America in any given year.

7. Nuclear non-proliferation agreement: Obama met with 47 presidents in a 3 day nuclear summit to lower the nuclear weapons count with a treaty signed between US and Russia, putting the world back on a path to reducing nuclear warheads.

8. Repairing Our Image Abroad: After 8 years of damage to our country's image, Obama has helped repair badly damaged relationships with foreign powers across the world from Russia to Europe and reached out to the Arab world.  This is necessary and critical in order for the most influential countries to work together to fight challenges such as Global Warming and Nuclear expansion.  It also helps to fight terrorist recruiting by helping change America's negative image.  It is increasingly important for the US to engage with other countries as fast-growing nations like Brazil, China, and India join the traditional powerhouses and as America adjusts to a world with more diverse and influential players in the political equation.

9. Lifted Bush restrictions on embryonic stem cell research: Obama provided federal support for stem-cell and new biomedical research, helping make it easier for scientists to find cures for our most dangerous diseases.

10. Reversed George W. Bush's ban on federal funding to foreign organizations that allow abortions.

11. Implemented education reforms: Made higher college more accessible and affordable through significant increases in scholarships and funding, funded early learning programs, and, most importantly, through an innovative program called Race to the Top, spurred reforms in state and local district K-12 education by providing states with incentives to make positive changes to their education systems.  Race to the Top prompted 48 states to adopt common standards for K-12.  Some notable changes prompted by the program include Illinois lifting a cap on the number of charter schools it allows, Massachusetts making it easier for students in low-performing schools to switch to charters, and West Virginia proposing a merit pay system that includes student achievement in its compensation calculations.

12. Tobacco regulation. On June 22, 2009, Obama signed the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act, which, for the first time, gave the U.S. Food & Drug Administration the authority to regulate the manufacturing, marketing, and sale of tobacco.

Whereas my last assessment, made 8 months ago, on what Obama had done in office was subdued ("has not blown anyone over by his administrative record to date.  His most significant accomplishment, while a job well done, was primarily a reaction to the economic environment handed to him while his other accomplishments are relatively tactical."), my conclusion today is completely different.  The list of his accomplishments are staggering for any US president – particularly when you compare him against our more recent US presidents.  Try to come up with a list of positive accomplishments by Clinton or both Bush presidents over their entire tenures and you won't be able to count them on one hand.  Meanwhile, in less than 2 years, Obama has done what most had said was politically impossible and absolutely essential for us to maintain a competitive economy in the future (Universal health care), tackled highly challenging and comprehensive economic reforms (Financial industry reform), and stabilized a very troubling economy.

After all of these achievements, it will be interesting to see what else Obama can get done over the next few years of his first term.  Even if he did not achieve anymore legislative accomplishments during the remainder of his tenure, Obama will have had one of the most productive terms of any president in the history of our country.

Obama signs technology access bill for disabled

Improvements will be for devices ranging from smart phones to TVs

WASHINGTON — Blind and deaf people will be able to more easily use smart phones, the Internet and other technologies that are staples of life and work under a bill signed into law on Friday.

Such a step has been a priority of advocates for the millions of people who cannot see or hear.

In the East Room of the White House, where he was flanked on stage by lawmakers and Stevie Wonder, President Barack Obama portrayed the occasion as another step in guaranteeing equal access, opportunity and respect for all Americans.

He recalled celebrating this year's 20th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, banning workplace discrimination against qualified people with disabilities and requiring improved access to public places and transportation.

She is also a sexual assault survivor who never saw her perpetrator brought to justice. Federal authorities declined to prosecute the crime or even interview her. (Her perpetrator was eventually arrested and convicted for assaulting another victim.) She said she is hopeful that the TLOA will prevent cases like hers from happening again.

President to Sign Landmark Child Nutrition Bill

by Helena Bottemiller | Dec 13, 2010

Today President Obama will sign the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 into law during a special signing ceremony at a local Washington, D.C. school. The bill, which reauthorizes many federal nutrition programs, including the National School Lunch Program, is a critical part of First Lady Michelle Obama's campaign to end childhood obesity within a generation.

"It's a great day for kids," said Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack on a call with reporters late last week. "It's going to be a very significant day, if not one of the most significant days, in child nutrition perhaps since 1946 when the School Lunch Act was enacted by President Truman."

The bill would, for the the first time, set nutritional standards for all food sold in schools–including vending machines and a la carte lines–and mandate an increase in the meal reimbursement rate for the first time in over three decades, by approximately 6 cents a meal. The legislation will also expand enrollment of already-qualified students in federal meal programs, provide funding for farm-to-school programs, and expand access to breakfast programs.

Food safety protocols also get a boost in the new law. The bill improves recall procedures and extends existing HACCP requirements to include "all places where school meals are prepared or served," according to the House Education & Labor Committee.

The landmark legislation was unanimously approved by the Senate in August and approved 264 to 157 in the House in early December.

President Obama Signs Tax Cut Bill Into Law

(please mind you this is not one here that I happen to like and it's one that has since died since this was originally written up)

Washington Post Staff Writer

Congress approved the most significant tax bill in nearly a decade late Thursday, overcoming liberal resistance to continue for two more years tax breaks enacted under president George W. Bush and to provide a fresh boost of federal support to the tepid economic recovery.

The package, brokered by President Obama and Republican leaders in the wake of the November elections, angered many Democrats, who have long argued that the Bush tax cuts were skewed to benefit the wealthy. But their last-minute campaign to scale back the bill's benefits for taxpayers at the highest income levels failed, and the House passed the measure 277 to 148, with 112 Democrats and 36 Republicans voting "no."

"This bill, the president of the United States believes and I believe, will have a positive effect on the economy," said House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.). "I will vote for this bill because I don't want to see middle-income working people in America get a tax increase, because I think that will be a depressant on an economy that needs to be lifted up.

As the Senate voted Saturday to end "don't ask, don't tell," Obama praised members for "ending a policy that undermines our national security while violating the very ideals that our brave men and women in uniform risk their lives to defend."

Obama said:

It is time to recognize that sacrifice, valor and integrity are no more defined by sexual orientation than they are by race or gender, religion or creed. It is time to allow gay and lesbian Americans to serve their country openly.

President Obama signs historic food safety law

http://www.oregonlive.com/health/index.ssf/2011/01/president_obama_signs_historic.html

With the flick of a pen, President Obama signs a bill today that paves the way for the first major overhaul of the food safety system in the United States in nearly a century.

The bill, passed by Congress late last year, gives the Food and Drug Administration new authority to recall tainted food and step-up inspections of food processing facilities.

It exempts farms and producers making $500,000 or year or less but will require larger manufacturers to enact food safety plans and includes measures to increase the safety of food imports, which account for one-sixth of the nation's food supply.

President Obama Signs START Treaty

President Obama signed the START nuclear disarmament treaty with Russia this morning.

Despite the great attention the president has devoted to this treaty — and the vast coverage of the treaty negotiations by the media — the White House refused to allow reporters or TV cameras in the room. Still photographers were the only representatives of the free press permitted to record the historic moment.

Those cameras captured President Obama signing the documents, seated at the Resolute Desk. Behind him stood Joint Chiefs Chairman Admiral Mike Mullen, Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Energy Secretary Steven Chu, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Sens. John Kerry, D-Mass., Dick Lugar, R-Ind., Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., and Thad Cochran, R-Miss., and Vice President Biden.

The White House Correspondents Association protested the White House's decision to refuse to permit reporters access to the event, in addition to the dearth of press briefings since the crisis in Egypt began to unfold, a crisis in which President Obama continues to celebrate the great freedoms and openness enjoyed in this country.

We Can't Wait: Obama Administration Takes Action to Reduce Prescription Drug Shortages, Fight Price Gouging

President Issues Executive Order, Backs Legislation to Require Drug Companies to Report Shortages

Iraq War: Last US Troops Leave Country

Huffington Post

KHABARI CROSSING, Kuwait — The last U.S. soldiers rolled out of Iraq across the border to neighboring Kuwait at daybreak Sunday, whooping, fist bumping and hugging each other in a burst of joy and relief. Their exit marked the end of a bitterly divisive war that raged for nearly nine years and left Iraq shattered, with troubling questions lingering over whether the Arab nation will remain a steadfast U.S. ally.

Kuwaiti and U.S. soldiers close the border gate after the last vehicle crossed into Kuwait during the US miltary's withdrawal from Iraq December 18, 2011. The last convoy of U.S. soldiers pulled out of Iraq on Sunday, ending nearly nine years of war that cost almost 4,500 American and tens of thousands of Iraqi lives.

President Obama: Extending Payroll Tax Cut Is a "Boost We Need Right Now"

President Obama today signed into law a two month extension of the payroll tax cut, which means that 160 million American workers will not see their paychecks shrink starting Jan 1, 2012. The President thanked Congress for ending the stalemate and urged them to keep working to reach an agreement that extends this tax cut as well as unemployment insurance through all of 2012, saying it is the right thing to do for American families and for the economy, and called it "a boost that we very much need right now."

The extension came after tens of thousands of working Americans turned to the internet to let politicians in Washington know just how much they were relying on that tax break, which amounts to about $40 per paycheck for a family making $50,000 a year, and the President acknowledged just how valuable their contributions had been to the conversation happening in the Capital:

Now mind you there is an ass load more that he's done, but the right and the nut cases that happen to hate Obama DO NOT want you to know any of this at all. And the part about the troops with drawing from Iraq was something that Bush already said was going to happen, let's face this one fact with this, that if we had had another Republican in office of the President, those troops not only would never have come home in the first place, Stop-Loss wouldn't never have been canceled, and they would've brought the draft back just to send more people over there in the first place. So there is a lot that Obama has done for this country despite everything that he's been up against

If you want to read more that he's done, here's the site for it: http://3chicspolitico.com/president-obamas-accomplishments/pbo-acmp-page-2/#comment-49910#comment-49910, it's where I got the rest of what you saw above.
